i'm beaming...

Back in November Jo Packham (the fabulous and ever so dynamic creator of Where Women Create) and Tiffany Kirchner Dixon of the Fancy Farm Girl came to visit and photograph my studio...

it was a dreamy day... i was so nervous and excited i barely had my wits about me  (and it showed because i repeatedly - like all day - called Tiffany, "Jennifer". ugh)

i had met Jo twice before and heard her give "talks" both times - i am in awe of her and her story. just an amazing lady. Tiffany i had meet years ago at a Silver Bella workshop in Nebraska - Tiffany was the epitome of style, beauty, fun and funk! - and she carried her craft supplies around in a very well organized, completely pimped out vintage suit case - it was love at first sight! we have emailed a bit over the years - i keep up with her by reading her  gorgeous blog The Fancy Farm Girl, and it was so serendipitous that we were able to hang out again for the shoot.

what??? what did you say... you haven't heard of Where Women Create? (seriously? do you live under a rock?) it is only the most wonderfully beautiful and inspirtaional publication out there - featuring "inspiring work spaces of extraordinary women". Published quarterly  (and in its 4th year)  WWC can be found at Barnes and Noble, and craft stores like AC Moore and Michaels. If you have searched high & low, and still just can't seem to find Where Women Create near you - you can find it  HERE online!

BELOW:
-here's me and Jo
-there's MY issue! ... (and my stack of prized possession back issues)
-below are some snap shots of my studio that I took that day after they left...

i was so honored to be included in the magazine that has brought me so much happiness, encouragement and pure inspiration over the years - the cherry on top was to have my studio featured on the cover, (and to be included amongst artist and designer Martha Young McQuilkin - of whom i have followed and delighted in for almost 15 yrs!). pinch me.

  2. Shelly, I literally squealed when i saw that your studio was on the cover!!! I am so happy for you; it is such a well-deserved honor! Your article and the photos were outstanding. I devoured the whole thing, of course, and I still have to go back and read the other artists' articles... LOL - I went right to yours! Your studio truly reflects your style which is so unique and BRIGHT! I feel it has been a privilege to have met you at the Spring Fling and have many opportunities to share a few fun moments with you over the last year! Best to you and I'm hoping to see you in September if not before. ~Amy Colburn
