going into hiding.

we are leaving for vacation this week. our own private paradise! we are headed to Nicaragua. we've had this booked for while... in the meantime.. COOKIE magazine did a feature on the place we are visiting.. they say it's " Dora Explorer come to life: a 4,500-acre Pacific cove almost to yourselves.. where howler monkeys and iguanas abound!". Set up by a French couple as a conservation project, Morgan's Rock rests on more than 4,400 acres of protected forest, complete with an estuary and private beach. Fifteen primitive-chic bungalows blend into the jungle hillside; each is crafted from a medley of local timber and outfitted with private decks facing west to catch the sunset. Not for acrophobes, the bungalows are connected to the main lodge by a 325-foot suspension bridge that crosses a leafy canyon. Guests dine at La Bastide, which serves Nicaraguan-Asian-French fusion cuisine with many ingredients (like the brown sugar) produced on-site. Open air, solar powered showers, no A/C, and operating completely on true ecolodge philosophy.

I'll spend time...being inspired by colors like these.
(image from here) I'll walk here.I'll sleep here.

I will wake up to this to each morning.

I will sit here all day

I will sit here at night ( and sip my breezy cocktails!)

I REALLY hope to see these! (we will bet here during hatch time... in November over 300 mama turtles laid their eggs on the beach here.. and they should JUST be hatching when we get there!)

I will visit these school kids. and I will peek into volcanoes like this..

I may never come home!

  1. Shelly, how do you find these places to vacation? I think you better bring home one of those hammocks - they are so pretty. Have a great time!
